Aluminum Composite Material

In 1969, Aluminum Composite Material was introduced to the world of architecture. They appeared in residential, commercial, industrial and office buildings, in clean and cold rooms, etc. From then on, we could see this material on the building facades more and more as architects, fabricators, general contractors and building owners found out about its functional advantages, high flexibility, energy-efficiency and sustainability. Today, Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) is a leading exterior cladding choice for those who are looking for clean uncompromising beauty for their buildings’ facades.

What is Aluminum Composite Material?

ACM is actually a kind of sandwich panel which is made of three layers: a low-density poly-ethylene (PE) or a mix of low-density polyethylene and mineral material (FR) as the core, and a thin skin-layer of Aluminum bonded to each side (each approximately 0.5mm/0.02″ thick). The finished product’s thickness is most commonly specified as 4mm and 6mm.

4mm ACM Panels

  • Standard PE Core material weighs approximately 2 LB/SF
  • Fire Rated Plus Core material weighs approximately 2.3 LB/SF.
  • 6mm ACM Panels
    • Standard PE Core material weighs approximately 3 LB/SF.
    • Fire Rated Plus Core material weighs approximately 3.75 LB/SF.
